From Feb. 13, the after the Grammys, to last Sunday, 21 sold a remarkable 730,000 copies, Billboard reported, citing data from Nielsen SoundScan. That was by far Adele’s biggest one-week sales take, bringing the album’s total sales in the United States to just less than 7.4 million.
Adele’s nonconsecutive run of 21 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s album chart is also the most of any album since 1991, when SoundScan began collecting accurate sales figures from retailers.
Last week 21 hit 20 weeks at No. 1, tying The Bodyguard soundtrack, which featured Whitney Houston on “I Will Always Love You,” “I’m Every Woman” and other hits. (Via ArtsBeat)
