Kim Kardashian raises $50K for Trevor Project

[Editor's note] I've tried to keep the Curl a Kardashian-free zone. However, this news item can't be overlooked:

Whether out of true selflessness or as a public mea culpa following her disastrous divorce, Kim Kardashian has given $50,000 to the Trevor Project, a suicide hotline for LGBT and questioning youth.

Kardashian chose the Trevor Project as her charity of choice for a fundraising event with Cantor Fitzgerald, the New York investment firm that donates money in the name of employees killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Kardashian is reportedly so taken with the Trevor Project, she plans to visit one of the call centers. The reality star, who fell out of favor after her short marriage with [hunky] basketball star Kris Humphries was widely perceived as a publicity stunt, has also contributed to the NOH8 campaign, which raises money for marriage equality in California.

Ric Alonso resigns from pageant association after porn revelation

Kevin Hogan wasn't the only person this week ambushed out of a job for his participation in the gay adult film industry. FOX News reports : Ric Alonso and his partner of 21 years, Ernie Koneck, have both been both prominent power players in the Southern California Scholarship Association — an incorporated not-for-profit association — which produces the Miss Hollywood pageant, an official preliminary to Miss California, and a feeder to Miss America. Alonso is listed as the first “major sponsor” for 2011 scholarship donations, while partner Koneck has been the pageantry point of contact and is featured in photographs alongside the smiling young sashed pageant contestants.
