Rita Hayworth's gay grandson found dead in apparent suicide

In sad news: The handsome socialite grandson of silver-screen goddess Rita Hayworth was found dead in an apparent suicide in his Chelsea apartment, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.

Andrew Embiricos — a troubled 25-year-old party boy who infamously starred in amateur Internet porn videos — was found lying face-up on his bed at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday with a plastic bag over his head, sources said.

His body was discovered by a pal, Aaron Edwards, 33, who had gone to the West 17th Street apartment after Embiricos had failed to show up for several appointments, sources said.

An autopsy performed by the medical examiner was inconclusive. Officials are awaiting a toxicology report. No suicide note was found, but law-enforcement sources said Embiricos had tried to kill himself before.

The dashing young man — who graduated from Fordham University with a degree in psychology — was the son of Hayworth’s daughter, Princess Yasmin Aga Khan (pictured with Embiricos), who lives off Central Park West, and Greek shipping heir Basil Embiricos.

A source said his mom rushed to his apartment as soon as she heard the news.

A descendant of the Aga Khan, an Islamic spiritual leader, Andrew Embiricos made headlines in 2007 when his secret life as an amateur porn star was exposed. He was found to be posting a series of raunchy videos starring himself — with titles such as “Chelsea Bareback Whores” — to the porn-hosting Web site XTube under the name Andrew Sauston.

Michael Musto of The Village Voice last night said on his blog that Embiricos had “battled HIV and had been in rehab more than once to fight drug addictions."

But he added that the young man had been looking forward to an upcoming trip to London with a friend and had been doing well with his disease.

Embiricos, talking to Musto in 2007 about his double life and apparently referring to his famed family, said at the time, “All I can say is I really regret that my actions have been associated with others, others who have had no control over them. I just hope people will make that distinction from this point forward.”
