Weekend Writing: Monday Edition
Rosie Show premieres tonight

[Editor's note] Apologies for not writing this weekend. I'm currently consumed by a home shelving project that's draining me dry. Anyway, without any further adieu, this week I'd like to discuss Rosie O' Donnell's long-awaited return to television tonight.

Let me start off by admitting that I've adored RoRo since I was 8 years old. From the very first Betty Ruble giggle to her last day as Harriet's nanny, from the days of her own show to her stint on The View, from her coming out to Diane Sawyer to her coming clean in Celebrity Detox, from "The Queen of Nice" to that haircut, from Kelli to Michelle; I've loved and learned from all of Rosie's incarnations. I even watched the variety show...

She's made me laugh, and C R Y !!!, and lose weight (see: Chub Club membership card) . She's taught me all about Broadway, and about the despicable NRA, and how important the legalization of gay adoptions are. Hardly a week goes by that I don't see a film she's in and my Christmas' are set to the music of her album. Although I never got the whole Tom Cruise thing, she showed me how to be a real fan of someone. A trait I direct squarely back to her.

Simply put, Rosie O' Donnell has peppered my life with nothing but fulfillment. That said, here's a bit about the new show from OWN:

Rosie O'Donnell makes her return to television with a new original talk show on OWN. At its heart is Rosie's genuine desire to entertain, inspire and connect with America. Rosie will cover current events, spotlight hometown heroes and news makers, showcase the arts, celebrate kids and families, as well as feature well-known and upcoming talent. Whether it's hilarious comedy and game segments, a live performance by a recording artist, a celebrity visit or a discussion of an important issue, The Rosie Show's fresh and candid exploration of a wide variety of subjects will encourage all of us to laugh, love and live our best lives.

The Rosie Show premieres tonight at 7pm on OWN.

Break a leg tonight RoRo!
