Hialeah school worker accused of having sex with girl, 13
Alarming news from our old middle school alma mater:
A computer technician at Palm Springs Middle School was arrested Monday on charges he had sex with a 13-year-old girl in the school's media center.
Leonardo Andres Valdes, 27, of Miami Lakes faces seven counts of lewd or lascivious battery on a minor. He was released today on $52,500 bond, according to Janelle Hall, a jail spokeswoman.
The school district is moving "very aggressively'' to terminate Valdes from his job, Miami-Dade Schools Police Chief Charles Hurley said.
Schools police learned of the incident and contacted Hialeah police, neither of whom would say how it came to their attention.
On Monday, the girl, a student at the school, told police she had intercourse with Valdes four times between Thanksgiving and the Christmas break. They also had oral sex, the arrest affidavit said.
Valdes admitted to the acts and was taken into police custody the same day, according to the arrest affidavit.
