Wal-Mart to sell Idol Season 8 CD

RCA Records and 19 Recordings announced yesterday that they have teamed up exclusively with Wal-Mart to release American Idol Season 8, a compilation CD.

Set to drop June 30, the album will only be available at Wal-Mart and Walmart.com at a retail price of $10, the announcement said. The compilation album marks the first time the favorites sung by this season's Top 10 finalists have been made available on CD, the record labels said.

The album includes two tracks from American Idol champion Kris Allen -- his hit single "No Boundaries" and his cover of Donna Summer's "She Works Hard for the Money."

There are two tracks from runner-up Adam Lambert -- his version of "No Boundaries" and his acoustic take on "Mad World" by Tears for Fears.

The CD features one track each from all of the season's other Top 10 contestants.

Ric Alonso resigns from pageant association after porn revelation

Kevin Hogan wasn't the only person this week ambushed out of a job for his participation in the gay adult film industry. FOX News reports : Ric Alonso and his partner of 21 years, Ernie Koneck, have both been both prominent power players in the Southern California Scholarship Association — an incorporated not-for-profit association — which produces the Miss Hollywood pageant, an official preliminary to Miss California, and a feeder to Miss America. Alonso is listed as the first “major sponsor” for 2011 scholarship donations, while partner Koneck has been the pageantry point of contact and is featured in photographs alongside the smiling young sashed pageant contestants.
