American Idol: Post #21

In what can only be described as a three-song brawl between an American Idol contestant (see Kris Allen) and an icon-in-the-making (see Adam Lambert), last night's show delivered like Dominoes.
It's clear to anyone who watched the show that Adam Lambert is light years more talented than Kris. Lambert has stage presence, charisma, and a vocal range that has rarely been seen in a male Idol constant. He enthralls you in his performances. And when he's not on, you wonder why he's not entertaining you.

This is not to say that Kris did not hold his own. In fact, Kris' rendition of "Ain't No Sunshine" solidified why he made it this far. He's more than a pretty face. He's good as American Idol standards go, but when faced with a force like Lambert, Kris is rendered obsolete. I think what Randy said last night about his "What's Going On" performance sums up the whole of Kris- his songs are just too little for such a big stage.

I hope Adam Lambert wins tonight. I voted 48 times, right up until midnight. But if he doesn't, I know his career will surely overshadow that of Kris'. In many ways, it already has.
