"Restructering:" Diedre Hall to Leave Days of Our Lives


Soap Opera Digest reports that Deidre Hall, who's played Days of Our Lives's Dr. Marlena Evans for 32 colorful years has been let go. With her, longtime screen partner Drake Hogestyn, aka John Black.

Due to major budget cuts, Hall and Hogestyn will be departing the show in the new year. Producer Ken Corday explained the decision to let the two veterans go in an interview with SOD, “The couple will be happily reunited after a long period of angst and separation and will be off-screen after January for an unknown period of time. It was a very toughdecision to make.”

--> On a personal note, as a Days fanatic for 10 years, I'm utterly heartbroken. I've seen Marlena go from John, to Salem Stalker, to Roman, to mysterious island inhabitor, to Tony DiMira, and back again. I hope this is not permanent because these to still have a lot to give to the world.

Ric Alonso resigns from pageant association after porn revelation

Kevin Hogan wasn't the only person this week ambushed out of a job for his participation in the gay adult film industry. FOX News reports : Ric Alonso and his partner of 21 years, Ernie Koneck, have both been both prominent power players in the Southern California Scholarship Association — an incorporated not-for-profit association — which produces the Miss Hollywood pageant, an official preliminary to Miss California, and a feeder to Miss America. Alonso is listed as the first “major sponsor” for 2011 scholarship donations, while partner Koneck has been the pageantry point of contact and is featured in photographs alongside the smiling young sashed pageant contestants. On Tuesday, Alonso was exposed by RadarOnline as adult film actor and producer "Jake Cruise".
