Debbie Reynolds to write tell-all memoir
Book Buzz reports: In 1988, Golden Age film star Debbie Reynolds wrote her autobiography, Debbie: My Life, about finding love with her third husband, the "brave, loyal and loving" Richard Hamlett. Oh, how things have changed.
One mistress scandal and divorce later, the Unsinkable Molly Brown star, 79, is taking another approach in a new memoir, Unsinkable, to be published in 2013 by William Morrow.
"I can't believe how naïve I was when I wrote it. In this book, I look back at the years since then and revisit stories I could not fully tell at the time," she said in a statement.
The new tell-all will cover everything from the end of her marriage to Hamlett (along with taking a mistress, he embezzled proceeds from her business, leaving her "emotionally and financially bankrupt" after the divorce), to the catastrophic endings to her two previous marriages (to Eddie Fisher, who left her for Elizabeth Taylor in 1959, and to Harry Karl, who lost their fortune in 1973, leaving Reynolds $10 million in debt).
"To paraphrase Bette Davis – fasten your seatbelts, I've had a bumpy ride," says Reynolds, who now performs a one-woman show, makes regular TV appearances and writes a weekly syndicated column.
She currently plays Grandma Mazur in the Katherine Heigl movie One for the Money.
