Glee, Kings of Leon duke it out over music

I'd previously decided not to post anything about this because it was stupid. It's still a stupid story, but look it at as a lesson in poor word choice. Here's the back story:

Glee creator, Ryan Murphy, singled out Kings of Leon in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter for not allowing their music be adapted for the show. Actually, he said, "F--- you, Kings of Leon. They're self-centered a--holes and they missed the big picture."

"They missed that a 7-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song," Murphy continued, "which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument. It's like, OK, hate on arts education. You can make fun of 'Glee' all you want, but at its heart, what we really do is turn kids on to music."

In the wake of Murphy's foul-mouthed tirade, Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill (pictured) offered this less-than-considered response via Twitter:

"Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go," Nathan tweeted. "See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating 7 yr olds how to say f--k."

Obviously, he did not choose to take the high ground.

But Followill soon backtracked, tweeting an apology just two hours later.

"I'm sorry 4 anyone that misconstrued my comments as homophobic or mysoginistic. I'm so not that kind of person. I really do apologize," he wrote.

So what have we learned here — other than to never, ever to let the drummer tweet?

Words hurt and music heals, so how about all you guys calm down, bury the hatchet and turn all this hot-headed drama into a cool musical number about forgiveness?
