Paula Abdul takes on American Idol
ArtsBeat reports: Paula Abdul’s new dance show, Live to Dance, will be scheduled against her former singing show, American Idol.
CBS said today that Live to Dance would start on Tuesday, Jan. 4, and then move to an 8 p.m. time slot on Wednesday. The announcement gained notice because Fox has tentatively scheduled the weekly results shows for Idol on Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. Fox has not yet said what week in January Idol will return.
On Live to Dance, she will be a judge, a mentor and an executive produce. Earlier this month CBS announced that the show would be hosted by Andrew Günsberg, a former co-host of Australian Idol, and that Ms. Abdul would be joined by two other judges, Travis Payne and Kimberly Wyatt.
On the series, which will be shown live on Wednesdays, a wide range of amateur dancers will compete for a $500,000 prize.
