Jennifer Saunders writing Spice Girls musical
Jennifer Saunders is working on her first project since beating cancer - the story for the Spice Girls musical. The comedian is writing the script based around the girl group's songs.
The show, provisionally titled Viva Forever, is the brainchild of Judy Craymer (producer of Mamma Mia!).
Judy has teamed up with the Spice Girls' original manager Simon Fuller to create a musical that will "harness the distinct personality of the Spice Girls".
Saunders, of Absolutely Fabulous and French And Saunders fame, was only recently given the all-clear from breast cancer. She quietly battled the disease out of public sight after an October diagnosis.
Saunders' connection to the band goes way back. She had a cameo role in their 1997 movie Spiceworld, which is now regarded as essential cult viewing. Then the girls returned the favour by appearing on French And Saunders.
