Idol Update: 2

A week into the main part of competition and already I can tell it's gonna be a dull season. No standouts, no personalities, no Glamerts or J.Huds. Not even an Archuleta. It's basically a group of lukewarm singers singing for seemingly uninterested judges.

Which brings me to this season's innovation: Ellen Degeneres. Contrary to the popular consensus, I miss Paula Abdual. I think Ellen is great at her stand up and tolerable on her talk show, but completely wrong for Idol. I don't want to hear the thoughts of the average music fan (as she was tauted to be). I wanna hear the professional comments of professionals. More to the point, she just comes off as annoying. Even the supposed hostility between her and Simon is boring.

However, I am looking forward to the return of Idol Gives Back this season. And to seeing MUCH more of Casey James:

In 2008, I heard presidential nominee Barack Obama speak about the future. And this past Saturday night, I saw the incomparable Barry Manilow perform in concert. Towleroad reports : It was almost two-and-a-half years ago when Timothy Boham (known also by his adult film persona Marcus Allen) was taken into custody just steps away from the Mexico border, on the run following the murder of Denver businessman John "JP" Kelso.Yesterday he was convicted of murdering Kelso, his former boss and sexual partner, and will spend the rest of his life in jail: Timothy Boham, 28, was found guilty by a nine-woman, three-man jury in Denver District Court of first-degree murder after deliberation, felony murder and aggravated assault. Colorado law mandates that someone found guilty of first-degree murder must spend the rest of their life in prison, without the possibility of parole.
