Andy Cohen, Bravo's Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, will be the Grand Marshal of the 2011 Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade. Cohen will lead the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade beginning at noon on Saturday, April 16th at 5th Street and Ocean Drive. The parade continues along Ocean Drive, featuring festive floats and the inspiring LEGACY couples – couples who have been in committed relationships for 20 years or more. Following the parade, the festivities continue at Lummus Park, between 10th Street and 14th Street, with exciting musical performances, a festival featuring LGBT-friendly vendors and businesses, refreshments and a family-friendly playzone. The son of one of Sweden's most legendary soccer players announced he is gay, making him the country's first professional soccer player to come out while still actively playing. Anton Hysen, 20, plays for Utsiktens BK. His father, Glenn Hysen, started playing in Liverpool, England, in 1989, helping his team to its 18th league title in his first season. "I am a footballer. And gay," Hysen said in Offside magazine, according to the Daily Mail . "If I perform as a footballer, then I do not think it matters if I like girls or boys." (Via the Advocate )

USA Today reports : Jodi Picoult's new novel Sing You Home — which makes a no-holds-barred case for gay rights and gay marriage — truly hits home for this best-selling author. "I actually started writing about this because it was so upsetting to me personally that gay rights is even an issue in this country," Picoult said at an event for her book in New York Monday night. "I travel enough to know that it just isn't an issue anywhere else. And they wonder why Americans are so hung up on it. I have so many gay friends and I've known so many gay people over the years.
